Losenstein receives TECH.GIRLS Seal of Quality
IAs part of the regional “Tech Girls Change” project, implemented in collaboration with companies from the Steyr Future Region, the family-owned business impressed with its high-quality training, commitment to equal treatment, and concrete measures to support female apprentices.
The quality seal is awarded by the Steyr Women’s Foundation in cooperation with the Upper Austrian Chamber of Labor, the ÖGB, the FAZAT association, and the Steyr Future Region Network to companies that are committed to fostering fair conditions, participation, and equal opportunities in technical apprenticeship training.
Apprentices actively contribute to improvements
A key factor in the project’s success was the dedication of the four apprentices involved. As part of a group of 20 young women from five companies, two aspiring machining technicians and two aspiring industrial business administrators analyzed their training and working conditions from the perspective of equal opportunity. They subsequently presented their findings to the training supervisors and management at the company’s headquarters.
Several concrete improvements were implemented directly based on these findings. These included a revision of the training plan—the proposal submitted by the apprentices was adopted almost unchanged due to its high quality.
A strong signal of trust, cooperation, and continued development
“As part of the project, dialogue between our female apprentices, the trainers, and management has been significantly intensified. We see this as an important step toward inspiring young women to pursue technical careers with us in the long term,” reports Nina Weberndorfer of Human Resources.
The exchange with other companies has provided valuable insights into the diverse ways gender equality can be put into practice in training. “Participating in the project has made it clear that we already have very good training conditions, which we are very proud of. It has confirmed that we are already on the right track in many ways, while also giving us new ideas for further developing our training programs,” explains Training Manager Stefan Gstöttenmayr.
At the closing event on November 19, a total of five companies were awarded the TECH.GIRLS seal of quality—WEBER-HYDRAULIK GMBH Losenstein is among them. With this award, the company reaffirms its commitment to continuing to actively participate in initiatives that inspire girls and young women to pursue technical careers and empower them in the long term.
